  • Monthly preventative maintenance:
  • Check your water level:
    • Check each cell.
    • Top off water – using distilled water only - do not fill past the inner lip.
    • Overfilling will cause acid to overflow.
    • As your batteries age, they will require more water more frequently.
  • Check nuts on battery terminals
    • Nuts need to be snug.
    • Do not overtighten. This can damage the terminal and lead to battery replacement.
    • Clean off corrosion - use baking soda / water to clean. Battery terminal protectant to prevent future corrosion.
  • Keep your batteries charged
    • This is key to their performance and longevity
    • We recommend charging after every use
    • You cannot overcharge
    • If your cart sits for an extended period, you need to still charge it periodically.
    • Letting your cart discharge (go dead) is not good for the batteries.
    • If this is a 2nd home, we recommend charging your cart completely before you leave, putting it in the tow position, and disconnecting the charger.
    • Keep in mind, your batteries are discharging every day
  • Well maintained batteries should last 4 to 5 years

Trojan Battery recommendations are available under helpful links

  • Charge your cart after each use.
  • Keeping your cart charged will prolong the life of the batteries.
  • As your batteries age, it will take them longer to charge.
  • If your cart is completely dead, it could take 10 to 16 hours to completely charge.
  • When your charger cuts off, it will not restart until you unplug it from the cart and plug it back in.
  • We do not recommend keeping your charger plugged in all the time. For example - if lightning strikes your house, and the charger is plugged in, it can damage the charger as well as your cart.
  • If you are leaving the cart for an extended period of time, charge your cart completely before leaving, then put it in the tow position. Do not leave the charger plugged in.
  • Do not allow your charger to get wet!.
  • Has your cart been sitting for an extended period of time? 2 months or longer? The voltage in your batteries may be too low for your charger to turn on. Let’s check your charger!  Bring it in so we can check it for you. We may have a simple solution!
  • If you are not sure if your charger is working, please bring it to the shop and we will check it for you free of charge. At that time, we will be able to determine if you have a charger issue or an issue with the cart.
  • We do work on chargers, but keep in mind, not all chargers are repairable.
  • We do sell new chargers for most makes and models.
  • Annually
    • Electric Carts: even the low / non maintenance battery operated carts such as Lithium / AGM still have brakes to be cleaned and adjusted / greasable joints, tire pressure, etc that needs to be checked to keep the cart in optimal working order.
    • Gas Carts: service is crucial to the life of your cart! We service 30-40 year old gas carts. These gas carts continue to run as long as you continue to take great care of them.
  • Use non-ethanol gas only – or a marine grade fuel treatment in your fuel tank! Keep your system clear!
  • Oil – use 10W30 or 10W40
  • Transmission Oil: SAW80W-90(Yamaha) / SAE30 (E-Z-GO)
    • Many service parts are cart / year model specific. For example - spark plugs, air filters, etc. Please call us for more detailed information. We do offer tune-up kits for most
  • If your cart sits for extended periods of time, or if you have additional accessories installed on your cart, you may want to consider investing in a 12 volt battery charger. Your cart has one starting battery that may die periodically if not charged from use.

Tires will vary in air pressure based on the size. Recommended PSI will be marked on the tire itself. Too low / too much air will cause your tires to wear unevenly.

We are in a salt air environment! Just like a vehicle, unless you keep your cart washed, your cart will deteriorate quickly!  On the other hand, if you maintain it, you will have many years of enjoyment out of it!.

We recommend using anything you would use on your vehicle – such as Meguiar's products, Armorall, or others of the like. It is important to know the seats are made of marine vinyl (not leather) and the windshield is acrylic. You will not want to use anything ammonia-based. You will ruin the windshield; mild soap/water only!

Make sure it is dry before covering if it is not garage kept! (Trapping moisture under a cover encourages mildew to grow on seats!)

  • Is the cart charged? / does it have gas?
  • Is the key on?
  • Is the cart in forward / reverse – not in the neutral position (*check to make sure the tow/run switch has not been flipped)
  • If you have no power and need to push / tow cart – refer to your owner's manual! Your cart may have a run / tow switch under the seat. It may switch to the neutral position in another way. DO NOT push the cart without putting the cart in neutral!  You run the risk of permanently damaging your motor!
